One way we can learn more about this remarkable transformation of the mind is by understanding the mechanisms of our memory. This talk will demonstrate the limitations of our processing ability and explore the theories of the mind, memory, and intelligence.

Targeting Inflammation as a Therapy in Dementia & Heart Disease

Thomas Chittenden (Postgraduate Researcher, Clinical Medicine and Population Health)

Dementia and heart disease often occur alongside each other, suggesting they have something in common. Researchers are targeting this shared feature in both conditions, specifically chronic inflammation and exploring how to develop safe new drugs to treat these conditions. Thomas will discuss this ground breaking research.

Carers of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Survivors

Craig Andrews (Postgraduate Researcher, Sociology, Politics, and International Relations)

Craig discusses what an acquired brain injury (ABI) is, how it impacts survivors, and also those who provide care to them. He will explore how we identify ABI carer needs and evaluate how NHS and social services in the UK are currently accommodating to them.
